Julien Stella, always on the lookout for new sonic experiences, amazes with his eclecticism.
In 2011, he won the French beatbox championship in the tag team category (as part of the duo BoxOffice), after which he joined the trio Groove Catchers (winners of the 2011 Tremplin Jazz de la Défense) in 2012, where he took his first steps on stage, playing the bass clarinet and beatboxing. Winner of the 2017 HipHopSession festival in the solo beatbox category, champion of the GrowlUp beatbox/instrument battle in 2017 alongside Alexhino (a leading figure in the beatbox scene), and then French beatbox runner-up in the team category that same year.
At the same time, he explores the possibilities of the clarinet through projects such as Cie Macadâmes, Rhythm Alchemy (the Chemirani, Vincent Ségal, Stéphane Galland, Prabuh Edouard, and Sokratis Sinopoulos trio), and Groove Catchers 4tet. He has also collaborated with Guillaume Hazebrouck (Pigments & the Clarinet Choir), Louis Sclavis, and Catherine Delaunay.
In 2018, he formed the duo NoSax NoClar with Bastien Weeger—a 2020 Jazz Migration award winner—with whom he has performed numerous concerts in France and internationally, followed by three albums, as well as a fourth scheduled for fall 2026 on Yolk Records, just like the previous ones.
Influenced by numerous genres, styles, and musical trends, Julien Stella continues to expand his projects across diverse and varied horizons.
