Pianist and composer, explorer of rare or little known music such as Sun Ra, Morton Feldman or Andrew Hill, he is the musician of all collaborations. The performer Phia Ménard, the writer Tanguy Viel, the actor Daniel Znyk, the translator Sika Fakambi or the Ghanaian-british poet Nii Ayikwei Parkes have come across his world.
Founder of the Cie Frasques, he performs in multiple contexts from solo to large formations. Recently he has created the projects Pigment & the clarinet Choir, with the slammer Nina Kibuanda, dedicated to explore the poetry of Léon-Gontran Damas. In 2021, he signed the music of the opera LES SAUVAGES a modern tale co-produced by Frasques and Angers Nantes Opéra. In 2023, he creates EN TOUTE PYROMANIE uniting seven musicians/performer around the poetry of the Haitian poet James Noël. In 2025 he created the project called Mass for a fragile planet, an oratorio based on the south-african poetess Antjie Krog’s text.
Guillaume Hazebrouck places his music under the sign of eclecticism and generosity. Faithful to his passion for singular and avant-garde figures of jazz such as Andrew Hill or Henry Threadgill, he also draws his inspiration from the music of Federico Mompou, Charles Ives, Gyõrgy Ligeti or Helmut Lachenmann. His multiple influences place him in an unclassifiable cross-over, a sign of an ambition, inventing music that is both popular and demanding, and of a utopia, that of addressing to everyone.
